Omega 3 for the healthy skin

from http://www.allotment.org.uk/

You’ve probably read a lot about the benefits of Omega 3s—the essential fatty acids are found in fish, like salmon or tuna, flaxseeds, and walnuts that your body can’t produce on its own. Proponents of Omega 3s claim that they help with joint function and help reduce cholesterol and fight depression. While all this is great, we here at MyShimmer are most concerned with how Omega 3s benefit your skin— and, from our research, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t start incorporating more of Omega 3s in your diet today.

John Rogerson went to speak to Dr. Nantapat Supapannachart, founder of  Thailand’s premier skincare centre, to find out what she recommends for us who want to turn back the clock a bit.We did a little bit more research on the method suggested, but as always, these only serve as guidelines. Check with your doctor what best suits you.

Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin and give a lifted, tightened appearance.  The skin’s elasticity is improved and prominent veins become less visible. Many people are looking for a little skin tightening but do not yet need surgery, for whom Thermage would be a good choice.

Pros - As a non-surgical treatment, it appeals to those who cannot afford the several weeks of recovery after a surgical procedure or the expense or surgery, or do not want to assume the risks of a surgical procedure.  There is no downtime after Thermage, and people can go right back to work and social engagements.

IPL and Acne

As we have mentioned before in this post, IPL Photo-Rejuvenation can help with sun-damaged skin, skin discolorations and general improvement with skin texture.  IPL technology have successfully treated brown spots (age spots, liver spots) and pigmentation, photo aging (rough texture, red and brown discolorations), face veins (telangiectasias), redness and brown mottled pigmentation on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands, Rosacea and actinic keratoses (pre-cancers) and warts.  The recovery time is minimal without the burns and blisters that go along with some other treatments.

One such device that allows you to do an IPL treatment at home is the CLARO SX IPL Skin Clarifying System. It is an effective way to treat your acne with a combination of both heat and light to give you a much younger, clearer and blemish-free looking skin.

As the editor-in-chief of a cruelty-free beauty blog, people often ask me which products are the best. Of course, that depends on your skin type, hair type and personal preferences. And, it’s amazing how one product will FAIL for me and then someone else I know will LOVE it!

3 Overrated Products That Just Don’t Work

While it is nice to know that there are some wonder beauty products out there that are changing lives, it is even more useful to know what doesn’t. Here are the 3 products we picked out that are way overrated, overpriced, or simply, do not work:

1. First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller

When you have puffy eyes and dark circles in the morning after a night of partying, the very, very last thing you want is bombing your eyes with burning sensations. Mona (smerfette) sent in her review of the First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller ($24 at Sephora) and complained about the intense tingly burning sensation under her eyes,  and that the roller ball of the tip of the tube makes it harder to the get product out. Mona tells us in her review that she still perfers concealer to the First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller — the product feels dangerous, the packaging is not user-friendly, and the product itself doesn’t do much. Well, our verdict? Overrated!

“Wonderbra in a tube” — Mama Mio Boob Tube Bust Cream Review

elisabetta-canalis

Ealier FacePanda wrote about Elisabetta Canalis, George Clooney's new girlfriend, and her magifinicent chest, and here at MyShimmer we started researching on ways you can up your cup too without having to go under the knife. One of our readers Jessie emailed us earlier about a bust cream that has worked wonders for her — “a wonderbra in a tube”, as she called it, and so perhaps this is the perfect time to talk a little bit about this wonder bust product: the Mama Mio Boob Tube bust cream.
