Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

 PHOTO FINISH FOUNDATION PRIMER

Recently, I ordered a few things from Sephora online. When you order online, you get to choose up to 3 free samples with your purchase (very exciting by the way). One of the samples I chose was Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. And thank goodness I did! I had heard about this product before but I never thought anything of a foundation primer because I thought it was just a lotion. Smashbox proved me WRONG…it is one of my MUST-HAVE products (along with the Bobbi Brown Corrector which I have already posted about on MyShimmer…amazing stuff!). It is rare to make it on my must-have list but Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer has made the cut!

PHOTO FINISH COLOR CORRECTING FOUNDATION PRIMER

One pump of this primer goes a long way. I use the original kind (which is clear) but there are other color options like Color Adjust (which is green to minimize redness), Color Blend (which is apricot to conceal under-eye circles, veins and sunspots) and Color Balance (which is lavander for natural yellow skintones). Smashbox also offers one with SPF 15 and a Bronzing Primer as well. Since I tried the original, I bought the original because I loved it so much and knew it would work. It’s a gel-consistency but once you rub it in your hands, it literally feels like it has completely disappeared. It’s the strangest thing! Once you rub in onto your face (after your moisturizer of course), though, it instantly evens out and perfects the look of your skin. I am not exaggerating here. It makes a HUGE difference in your makeup routine.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer is formulated to smooth and perfect your skin with its unique formula of vitamins and antioxidants. After you smooth it on your face you can see that any lines or pores that were there before are filled in. It’s truly a flawless finish.

For more information, see Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer , $36-$42 at Sephora.

Review: Maybelline Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length Mascara

Carrie

Our Shimz Gaby reviewed the Maybelline Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length Mascara (with a very lengthy name too!). It works, but it also clumps, flakes, and had a strong scent. But what can you ask of a $8 mascara?

L’Oreal bought Makeup.com

Carrie

Makeup.com used to be an ecommerce site. Today, it looks like another classy blogs. According to this article, L’oreal bought makeup.com for a rumoured 7 figure number. That’s more than 1 million dollars, if I have count the number of zeros right.   Makeup.com had debt and obligations of over $1 million and was asking $3.5 million.  Did Loreal pay $3.5 million for a blog?  And we think it looks a lot like MyShimmer.com ;)

And our Super Shimz Brittany and Shimz Exquisite Jenn are on there too.

What do you think?

CO Bigelow Soda Fountain Lip Shine

Christina

From Rachel – I must say: I love this lip gloss!

One would think “Ahhh mint + vanilla butterscotch…” that doesn’t mix, but oddly enough, it does. The mint flavor hits you first then fades, leaving just sweetness.

Butterscotch Vanilla Sundae/No. 1517 is a very beautiful pale golden yellow shimmer. On the lips, you see a glossy clear finish. You also see all the sparkling gold shimmers. I’m not sure what I love more, the flavor or how it looks!

FOTD and reviews of Sassy Mineral Pigments

Emily

We sent our lovely Rachel the Eye Candy Eyeshadow in Pixie Sprinkles and First Base mineral foundation in "Cool Light"  from Sassy Minerals, and below is an excerpt of her FOTD and review for it.

On the eyeshadow:

This is a very pretty shadow, like nothing I have in my current collection. When I first saw it I thought to myself, “What a wonderfully shimmery, warm yet nude-ish color.” It is described on Sassy Mineral’s site as a neutral peachy beige with copper, green and purple sparkles. I think that’s a very accurate description. … I found it nicely pigmented — this was only rubbed once lightly with my finger. The staying power was quite good.
