Smashbox 2010 Spring Collection

Smashbox’s 2010 “Heartbreaker” Spring makeup collection is sure to turn quite a few heads with its bright colors and juicy glosses. This year marks a new milestone for Smashbox because it is the first time that they will have a perfume as part of their collection: Heartbreaker Eau de Parfum is a blend of forget-me-nots, florals, and spices. This roll-on perfume also has hints of violet, gardenia, precious musk, and vanilla—the perfect scents to intoxicate your man!

Here are some other Heartbreaker products that we would like to try:

Stretch that back

Back in the days, only a selected few work in the office; now, from 5 to 70, a majority of us sits at the desk often; whether talking with friends, watching “TV”, playin games or really working. So, here, I am going to share with you some of the stretches I have learnt throughout the years at trainings and seminars.

From The Fun Times Guide .com

Most of the stretches requires you to hold at the stretch position for at least 3 seconds. Repeat as desire :)

1. Neck

Heads Down.

Sitting/ Standing, keep your back straight and head facing forward. Keep your feet flat on the floor. Slowly lower your chin to your chest and hold for three seconds (1001, 1002, 1003) before raising your head back to the starting position

Sideways.

Sit straight or stand tall. Imagine there is a thread going through your head and pulls you upwards. Feel your spine straight and feet flat on the ground. Take a deep breath and when you exhale roll your right ear towards your right shoulder. (Not shrugging your shoulder towards your ear). Hold for three seconds.

Take another deep breath and as you exhale roll your chin to your chest. On the next deep breath, exhale and roll your left ear to your left shoulder. Finally, take another deep breath and exhale as you roll your chin back to your chest.

Heads Up.

Start as previous exercises. Close your eyes/ keep that at a neutral position. Tilt your head back. With your hands, slightly push your head up.

2. Shoulder

Shoulder Roll

Roll shoulder up, forward, down and back slowly. You should be feeling your shoulder blades getting massage and work on.

3. Back

Upper Back Stretch.

Put hands behind your back and hold each other. With straight arms, pull arms backward and upward. You should feel your chest “opening” and the muscles between your shoulder blades tightening.

Lower Back stretch.

Stand with feet apart. Place both hands on lower back and bend back gently. (Bonus: If you want to work on your abs, laugh out loud and hard. Or say, “Ha! Ha! Ha!”, one breath for each “Ha”. )

4. Hand

Wrists

Put left hand in front of mid-chest (like the Buddha), turn (your pinky towards yourself) so that the palm faces left too. Place right hand thumb on the back of the left hand, right in the middle, and wrap the rest of the fingers around the left thumb. Push right thumb and pulling left back with the rest of the right hand fingers, hence twisting your left wrist.

Repeat with right hand.

Fingers.

Hold a fist (with thumbs outside of rest of fingers) in both hands. Squeezed as hard as you could and hold the position.

Then make “paper”/ “high five”. With open palm, stretch it wide open as much as possible.

Review: Incoco Dry Nail Polish

via One Girl's Passion for Makeup

Hey girls, do you often have somewhere to go and cannot waste precious time painting one coat of polish and waiting it to dry and then repeating that over and over again? Then you need Incoco Dry Nail Polish.
Overall Review: I just love it. I apologize that my conclusion will be very short and simple, but I am a huge fan of these. They’re also air port safe so you won’t have your bag checked because this isn’t liquid. Amazing isn’t it. Thanks to Rina L. for the request, I hope you enjoy it honey!

Top Five Favorite Nail Polishes

from ChiCityFashion – I think nail polish is a an underestimated accessory. It’s a subtle way to express your mood or personality. The best part is that there are many color options along with finish options (matte, sparkle, etc.)… the possibilities are endless. I’ve never thought it was necessary to match the color of your nails to your outfit. I would literally wear any color with any outfit and if they’re complete opposites, it just makes the ensemble stand out that much more.

My favorite brands of nail polish are Lippmann and Zoya. Not only do they both have an amazing collection of fantastic colors but all of their nail polishes are made without harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde. Can’t get much better than that!

Here are my top five favorite nail colors (in no particular order) and where you can get them:

I love nail colors that are out of the ordinary. I am not your typical red or pink girl when it comes to nail polish. This color looks amazing in the bottle and even better on your nails. It’s an iridescent lavender color but when you look at it from different angles, it can look silver or mint green. I get so many compliments on this color and it’s one of my favorite nail colors of all time.

Fun, Practical and Effective. FitDeck Reviewed.

I first heard about FitDeck from a friend. Actually, I didn’t hear anything about it. I just saw it on the table when I visited. I opened the plastic box, and totally amazed at the cards. I asked Santa (ok, my boyfriend) and he sent me 3 sets. Now I’m a proud owner of BodyWeight, Core Blast and S.A.Q. (speed, agility, quickness).

Kim Kardashian’s Debut Fragrance

Happy February! A few exciting events are happening in this February, and today is the launch of Kim Kardashian’s fragrance with her same name. Kim Kardashian, the fragrance, is available exclusively at Sephora starting today!

A few of our Super Shimz have been selected to preview this fragrance for you, so watch closely to us for updates! I was also lucky enough to have a sample. Before I tell you what I think of it, let me give you more details about the fragrance.

The scent of stardom

The fragrance is described as “The scent of stardom”. It is a fragrance as voluptuous, sensual and beautiful as Kim herself. Kim Kardashian reflects the sensuality, femininity and appeal of Kim herself. Margarita Arriagada, Sephora’s SVP of Merchandising, described the fragrance as “a gorgeous fusion of classicism, modernity and sensuality.” Developed by Givaudan, and created by master perfumer Claude Dir, the sumptuous, floral fragrance evokes Kim’s trademark sultry style with crisp top notes, lush, floral mid tones, and a rich, sexy dry-down. Gorgeous, voluptuous floral reflect her captivating nature, while Jasmine, tuberose and gardenia evoke her femininity. Tonka bean, jacaranda wood and sandalwood add a warm, sensual base, representing Kim’s softer side.

My sample bottle was, well, in a sample bottle; but you would be pleased to know your bottle is designed by Scott Oshry and Sean Brosmith of Masea.

How much?

Right now, it ranges from $16 — $65, available exclusively through Sephora.

Notes:

Mandarin, Honey Suckle, Orange Blossom, Pink Jasmine, Tuberose, Sensual Spice, Lush Gardenia, Jacaranda Wood, Tonka Bean, Vanilla Orchid, Sexy Musk, Creamy Sandalwood.

My take on it (with my non-profesionally-trained-nose)

I personally own Dior’s J’dore, Anna Sui’s Sui Love, Harajuku’ Love, (wow, I just realize they are ALL LOVE!), and when I first got my Kim Kardashian sample, it does remind me of these scents, and hence I am comparing them.

Compared with Sui Love, Kim Kardashian perfume is less floral and flirty. You can definitely tell the presence of the warm undertone too. Compared with H. Love, Kim Kardashian fragrance is more sensual. Kim Kardashian fragrance is pretty similar to J’dore as a wholesome scent. J’dore is more subtle, modest and less floral. All in all, Kim Kardashian perfume is definitely the sultry, sexy fragrance described by its producers.

Coffeeberry — the next acai berry?

Coffeeberry, via coffeeberry.org

I must admit, when I first heard of “coffeeberry”, the last thing I would have thought of was skincare. Instead, my mind immediately drifted off to Starbuck’s, wondering if they sold coffeeberries as a latte flavor.

Actually, my linking of coffeeberry to my favorite drink wasn’t so far-fetched. Coffeeberry is a product derived from the fruit of the coffee plant (Coffee arabica), from which the commonly known coffee bean is derived. When harvested at a sub-ripe growth stage, the flesh of the fruit is at a peak antioxidant concentration offering the extract known as coffeeberry. Coffeeberry is also chock-full of polyphenols, which have antioxidant properties; in fact, research has shown that coffeeberries have more antioxidant properties than blueberries, pomegranates, and green tea.

What does that mean for your skin? Like all antioxidants, coffeeberry helps to prevent new wrinkles and fine lines from forming. According to Allure magazine, when coffeeberry extract was applied to a group of women’s skin, the texture and tone of their skin showed a 46% improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, 64% in overall skin smoothness, and 79% in skin hydration.

Coffeeberry also helps to reduce the effects of free radicals, like stress, as well as the environment on your skin.

The full extent of the benefit from coffeeberry is not yet known due to it being relatively new on the market. However, it is available through many companies. RevaléSkin is the first company to tout coffeeberry’s benefits in a product. RevaléSkin suggests coffeeberry users take an oral antioxidant supplement such as Coenzyme Q10 so together the two antioxidants can fight the effects of aging and the environment both internally and externally.

If you have tried coffeeberry for your skin, leave a comment below and let us know! We are interested in seeing if it really works and if users have seen other benefits from it, besides its anti-aging properties.

Lush Review

From Shimz Aniyah (http://theshimmernetwork.ning.com/profile/AniyahSkerritt)

Rock Star Soap — Amazing. Creamy and lathers lovely. Smells divine. Highly recommended

Olive Branch Shower Gel — New favorite Lush product, smell beautiful, fresh yet earthly scent. Lathers really well, have a subtle linger. Shake it up before use.

Vanishing Cream — No particular scent, general lotion scent. Help with spot-prone skin and oil-control. Keeps moisture in. Good for combination skin.

Dark Angels — Causes the skin to nicely resurfaced. Not microdermabrasion, but get rid of old skin. However, extremely messy, and blackened your bathroom quite a bit. Good for spot-prone skin

King of the Mods — Best product for Aniyah’s hair (thick, coarse, curly hair). After using the product, her curls are then soft and not frizzy.

The Bag Tease — Keep your hair in place, very good hair gel, but not for her curly hair. Strong hold.

Tea Tree Water — Smells gorgeous, spray on face to feel revitalize. Help eliminate spots.

Baby Face — Cleanser. Good for removing makeup and mascara. No residue/ “panda eyes”. However, its an oily products and caused her (spot-prone) skin to breakout.
