Rare Minerals Renew and Reveal Cleanser

It never seems to fail—you’ve got someplace important to go: maybe a first date, maybe a party, or perhaps a job interview, and you wake up in the morning with a brand-spanking new pimple on your face. If you’re like me, you’ve tried everything to help out your acne-prone skin: ProActiv, peels, light therapy, microdermabrasion, and just about every cleanser on the market.

I had resigned myself to feeling like my face was a pepperoni pizza until, on a whim, I decided to try Bare Escentuals’ Rare Minerals Renew and Reveal Facial Cleanser. At first, I have to admit, I was turned off by it. Who feels like dumping a mound of powder in their hand and having to make it into a paste when you’re in a hurry?

Natural composition

Truth is, by adding water to the powder, it activates the cleanser. Renew and Reveal  is composed of all natural ingredients, including coconut oil, rosemary leaf oil, and oatmeal. The oatmeal is especially useful if you’re shopping for a product for acne-prone skin because it helps to reduce redness and itchiness.

In clinical studies, 86% of women saw an improvement in their skin’s softness and smoothness after using the cleanser. And 76% of women said it completely removed all of their makeup.

It does take some trial and error to get the right dosage of powder down to a science with this cleanser. When I first bought it, I subscribed to the notion that “less is more” and really didn’t use too much and didn’t see any improvement in my face. Then one night, by accident, I tapped too much powder out of the bottle. When I added water, I ended up with a creamy liquid—very different from when I wasn’t using enough product. That’s when my face started to clear up.

Use the right amount

The Renew and Reveal cleanser can also be used as a mask—just use enough product like I described above but add less water and keep it on your face for about 15 minutes.

The price is affordable ($26 for 2.5 oz. on Beauty.com) and it does last a while. My first bottle lasts me a whole eight months! Bare Escentuals also created the Rare Minerals Purely Moisturizing Facial Moisturizer to go with Renew and Reveal—it does work well but I have only used it for about a month so I can’t say much on it yet.

The bottom line is—if you’re tired of looking for a good cleanser for acne-prone skin, look no further. The Bare Escentuals Renew and Reveal Facial Cleanser was the only thing that could help my skin and I won’t use anything else on my face. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
