Tea contains caffeine and can help folks stay alert.  It is also used as a health food, especially green tea, said to prevent heart disease and cancer, gum disease, skin aging and weight loss. Studies have shown that tea polyphenols can protect against the effects of many illnesses.   Tea comes in black, green and white and the difference comes in the harvesting and processing.  In particular, skin is said to benefit from topical application of green tea as well.

Green tea contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory elements and topical green tea polyphenols will likely slow down the aging process.  Sun protection benefits of green tea have been documented and thus applying a green tea formula under your sunscreen is helpful. That said, it is best if combined with zinc oxide-based sunscreens. Below is some simple ways to add green tea to you skin maintenance routines to slow down aging.

The easiest way is to simply boil some water and add the green tea leaves for a few minutes.  Cool and refrigerate the liquid and with that your green tea liquid toner is ready to use.  To use, clean your face, dip a cotton ball in the liquid and apply to your face and neck.

Another simple product used for skin care is baking soda.  Baking soda is frequently used for shaving and shampooing, for minor cuts and burns and for relaxation in the bath.  For beautiful, smooth skin, use your kitchen baking soda as a cleanser and exfoliant.  Simply mix it with a few drops of cool water and apply to the skin.  That will help to clean the skin and remove the dead skin cell. However, make sure you moisturize well afterwards because it tends to dry out the skin.

And, if you want to combine the benefits of green tea and baking soda, use this recipe and make your own Green Tea Toner

  9. Lemon and baking soda will foam but will eventually settle and you can mix it

  11. Mix it well, pour into a storage container that you have previously prepared

If you mix more than your container will hold, you can mix the remainder with a clay mask instead of using water or mix with an aspirin paste for an exfoliating face wash or mix with anything and leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes.

Done. Now you have made your own Green Tea Toner inexpensively and have what you need to keep your face clean, smooth and possibly help with the aging lines and wrinkles.
