Editors’ Pick for Thanksgiving: DHC Deep Cleasing Oil Review

dhcCleaning up your makeup thoroughly after a night of partying is just as important as putting on runway makeup. DHC is well-known for its simple, quality products that do the job, and its signature product — the Deep Cleansing Oil — is the embodiment of this very philosophy. Here is our review of the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and why it should sit tight in your makeup bag this holiday season.

Easy to use
I used to be one of those people who have 5 products for makeup removal — cold cream, eye makeup remover, and facial cleanser. I didn’t realize the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil could actually be used as an eye makeup remover as well until one day I accidentally smudged some over my eyelids, and I noticed how my waterproof mascara just came right off. Usually I get a tiny bit wary of pulling some of my eyelashes off when removing stubborn mascara clumps, but surprisingly the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil did the job “with such grace” (the very words of my makeup-product-skeptic mother) and, definitely, great ease. No makeup residue whatsoever after 1 minute of massaging my face with the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil — a result way better than Pond’s Cold Cream, eye makeup remover, and facial cleanser combined.

Thorough Cleansing
We all know the risks of not cleaning your makeup thoroughly enough — cosmetics products are, no matter how natural they are (or claim to be), chemical products that are not supposed to be on your skin 24/7. Leaving traces of makeup on your skin for a prolonged period of time could lead to chronic acne and skin allergies. The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil has a unique water soluble formula that is able to rinse any chemical products off your skin completely, leaving no traces of pore-clogging dirt, makeup, or excessive oil. It works extraordinarily well on my waterproof mascara and lipstick compared to other eye or waterproof makeup remover, and the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil actually remove debris on your skin so it works perfectly well as a oil cleanser for people with oily or sensitive skin as well (like myself).

Gentle and Moisturizing
I had some moderate acne problem growing up as a teenager and has been religiously sticking to acne facial cleansers that focus more on drying up zits and pimples than moisturizing and hydrating my skin. As I grow older, the need for a more gentle and hydrating product also grows (I’m in my early 20s now) since acne products often dry up my skin and leave it acne-free yet somewhat dull. The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil was great for this purpose as the main reason of my occasional breakout these days is more of an environmental reason (makeup, dirt, etc) than teenage hormonal reasons. The gentle formula of the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is good enough to rinse off pore-cloggers thoroughly without sucking the moisture out of your skin, and the vitamin E and olive oil do a fabulous job both hydrating and retaining water in your skin. Extra upside: great product to use for a late night facial massage before heading to bed!
