Relastin was Allure’s 2009 Editor’s Pick of Best Eye cream.  We had to review and test out this eye cream as we are always on the look­out for an effec­tive eye cream.  This eye cream has lead­ing edge sci­ence behind it.   Even if you are not look­ing for an anti aging eye cream, tell your sis­ter or mother about it.  It really works!

Elastin is the pro­tein in skin that gives it firm­ness, tone and elas­tic­ity.  The skin gets its strength and flex­i­bil­ity from two struc­tures, col­la­gen and elastin.  Collagen and elastin make up 70 per­cent of the der­mis and are impor­tant pro­teins in fight­ing the aging process.  The amount of elastin in the skin usu­ally peeks in ado­les­cence and declines there­after.  This skin pro­tein strength­ens the skin so that dam­age from sun, envi­ron­ment, facial motion such as smil­ing or frown­ing don’t cause as many wrin­kles as in a weaker skin struc­ture.  The elastin mol­e­cules are typ­i­cally too large to be absorbed by the skin but Relastin found a way for the ingre­di­ent to be deliv­ered deeper into the skin.

My Experience with Relastin:

Over time, Relastin showed sig­nif­i­cant smooth­ing of crow’s feet at 14 days; greater improve­ment after 28 days in clin­i­cal tests with over 70% of patients saw reduced fine lines.*  For me, my eye area bright­ened after a few uses of the prod­uct. The sub­tle effects of the eye cream helps to soften the appear­ance of wrin­kles and fine lines around my eye.  The eye cream con­tains Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone as the first ingre­di­ents which gives the prod­uct a thick, smooth tex­ture and feel sim­i­lar to sil­i­cone.   This prod­uct stays on the skin to cre­ate a bar­rier and “fills in” the lines.  It feels absorbed into the skin imme­di­ately, with­out the heavy residue expected of a high effi­cacy product.

The prod­uct is dis­pensed through a pump in a light­weight opaque bot­tle.  The pump works very well.  Some pumps dis­pense too much prod­uct but this pack­ag­ing gives the right amount.   The bot­tle is larger, giv­ing the impres­sion there is more prod­uct in the bot­tle but it is only 0.5 oz.

Pros:

• Price is not out­ra­geous if you want to try the prod­uct at $69 for 0.5 oz
