I had the pleasure of interviewing Sunny Griffin, supermodel who was on the cover of Vogue and a Ford Model.   She is also an ageless beauty at 69!   She travels to exotic countries, lives a healthy life in Colorado with her husband, is building a winter home in Thailand, scuba dives, climbs mountains and created her own skincare line and Company.   The funny thing is that she is so approachable and honest, not at all what I expected.

We also love to meet women CEOs and founders.  It is so aspirational to meet a woman who has beauty, brains and a genuine personality.    Sunny is a go getter and has had a fabulous life story, even better than Kim Kardashian’s reality show.

Christina:  I am sure you have seen all the fads in cosmetics and beauty.  What is timeless and ageless beauty?

Sunny:  Timeless and ageless beauty is being healthy.   Being healthy is what you eat, exercise, sleep and being conscious of what you put on your skin.  The skin is the body’s largest organ.  Personally, she chooses to have a raw diet (which is what many movie/models stars like Carol Alt, Demi Moore, Sting, Alicia Silverstone, Lisa Bonet, Robin Williams, Donna Karan, Woody Harrelson, Angela Bassett to name a few)

Christina:  What is your beauty secret?

Sunny: It is no secret.  For skin, exfoliation and deep moisturization are key to having younger skin.

Christina:  Why did you create the Company and the products?

Sunny:  Moisturization and keeping my skin hydrated was a problem when I moved to Telluride Colorado.  The air was so dry that I could not sleep through the night.  I met a person using raw botanicals to make skincare.  These raw botanical ingredients still have enzymes which are alive and thus, I started Astara skincare, a line of skin care based on raw botanicals and less chemicals.

Christina: You have traveled to so many regions of the world and experienced different cultures, why did you pick the US and Arizona to live?

Sunny: Telluride Colorado is one of the most beautiful places to live and the people have a  healthy lifestyle and attitude.

Christina: As a follow up question, how does the American woman’s concept of beauty compare to other nationalities around the world?  What makes her unique?

Sunny:  The international concept of beauty is similar worldwide but America is focused on youth.  I turns 70 next year and at her age she is thinking about looking young.  Heathy is young.  (We think she looks AMAZING and so YOUNG!)

Christina:  What trends do you see for 2010 in beauty?

Sunny:  Spa has gone from luxury to necessity.  Spas help us reduce stress in our daily lives and people are becoming more aware of dangerous ingredients on their bodies.  If you can’t eat the ingredients, why would you not want to put it on your face.  Astara believes in raw botanticals as the basis of a healthy, good skincare regime.  This is the trend of the future in skincare.
