Tropical Beauty Vacation with Coconut Oil on Your Hair and Body

Since I can’t be in Fiji or a tropical island right now, the next best thing is to use one of my favorite ingredients Coconut Oil on my hair and skin.  Coconut oil is a base ingredient in many lotions and cosmetic products.  Pure coconut oil is a natural ingredient found online and in many health food stores.

Coconut oil has a unique fat composition that is easily absorbed by the skin and promotes healing.  On the surface, coconut oil will make your skin soft, shiny and smooth, even helping to exfoliate the outer layer of the dead skin cells.    After showering everyday, I apply a quarter sized amount of coconut oil on my legs before drying off and mixing the coconut oil onto my wet skin.

Futhermore, coconut has antibacterial, repair and healing properties, to help protect the skin against age spots and keep the connective tissue of the skin supple.

In addition, I also warm a dime size of the coconut oil (amount depends on how thick your hair is and how much you have)  and lather it into my hair as a deep conditioner once a month.  I wrap my hair in a warm towel  for 15–20 minutes.    Other methods of application include mixing the coconut oil with a base such as water or just using coconut milk instead of oil.  In addition, it can be used on dry hair but sparingly use the oil or milk in your hair if it is dry.

Coconut oil can give you the look of out of the shower wet hair all day but it can also weigh down your hair and make it greasy.

Coconut is the basis of many bath and body products, such as the Body Shop.
